Sterling Finkbine, M.Ed.

Mr. Sterling Finkbine is currently in his third year as Director of Vocal Music, and Performing Arts Department Chair at Cincinnati’s School For Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA). In his current position he teaches 9th-10th Grade Musical Theater, Synergy Junior High Choir, Chorale, and Baby Grands, SCPA’s Treble-Acapella group. Prior to his appointment to SCPA, he served 10 years as the Director of Choral Activities for the Ross Local School District, where his concert choirs consistently earned Superior Ratings at OMEA Large Group Contest. Additionally, he directed Legacy, Ross High School’s show choir and premier performance ensemble. Legacy was a consistent competition finalists, winning caption awards for Best Vocals, Best Choreography, Best Band, Best Tech Team, Best Costuming, and capturing numerous division/overall Grand Championship awards. He also started Ross Middle School’s show choir, Next Generation. Next Generation gained the reputation as being one of the countries best middle school show choirs, winning many caption awards and garnishing a history of grand championship wins. Sterling serves on the board for the Cincinnati Boychoir, and previously served on the Board of Directors for the Butler Philharmonic Orchestra where he co-chaired the marketing and rebranding committee. Sterling attended Wright State University for his Bachelors of Music and Masters degree in Educational Leadership. He lives happily in Cincinnati with his partner Chris, and two dogs, Whisky & Pete.
